The Truth About Pennies
Pennies stopped being minted in February of 2025.

Why should you care? It raises questions for the consumers and coin collectors.
For example, how will this affect in person purchases? It will be rounded to the
nearest nickel. If something costs $11.95, it will be rounded to $12. I imagine this
will cause confusion for cashiers.
Coin collectors who focus on pennies, will likely pay more to complete their
collection due to supply-and demand.
My husband orders boxes of pennies from the bank. Will banks still allow you
to order boxes of pennies?
Here's another question that's been brought to my attention. Will the price of
pennies increase since they are no longer being minted? The price will remain the
same except for the key dates, and error pennies. I go by the red book of coins.
It lists the retail value. Collectors are willing to pay more for pennies now that they
are no longer being minted.
