 I realize that you may find coin collecting to be boring. Did you know that coins have holidays dedicated to them? February 12th was Lost Penny Day.  What is Lost Penny Day and How Do You Celebrate it? Lost Penny Day will give you an excuse to clean your house. Check through all your couch cushions, coat pockets, dresser drawers, etc. See how much change you can find, and count it up. Celebrate the fact that you found some money. Spend the money on something enjoyable. Donate it to a charity. Lost Penny Day was invented by Addrienne Sioux Koopersmith. It was first celebrated in 1995.

                                 Pennies stopped being minted in February of 2025. https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/10/business/costs-of-pennies-and-nickels/index.html           Why should you care?  It raises questions for the consumers and coin collectors.        For example, how will this affect in person purchases? It will be rounded to the          nearest nickel. If something costs $11.95, it will be rounded to $12. I imagine this          will cause confusion for cashiers.                Coin collectors who focus on pennies, will likely pay more to complete their          collection due to supply-and demand.                 My husband orders boxes of pennies from the bank.
